Director of Clinical Training (DCT), School of Psychology

The Director of Clinical Training (DCT) for Fielding Graduate University’s APA Accredited Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program provides an essential administrative function for the program involving directing all clinical training components for the program. In addition, the DCT oversees the APA accreditation process in collaboration with the PD. The Clinical Program has over 200 students in the United States and Canada placed in practicum and internship in a given year.  

The DCT is responsible for clinical training, including clinical practicum, and doctoral internship, and is the liaison with APA. The DCT, in collaboration with a Director of Practicum Training, monitors day-to-day activities of students in field placements. This includes guiding students through the practicum and doctoral internship process (including affirming readiness), ensuring contracts and paperwork are complete prior to practicum or doctoral internship initiation, providing training in record keeping and monitoring accrual of clinical hours, collecting and reviewing Clinical Skills Inventories to assess profession wide competencies, and supporting students in need of remediation.

GENERAL DUTIES

Responsible for directing all clinical training components (including practicum, curriculum, and internship), APA accreditation, and program review for the Clinical Psychology program including:

• Ensuring the quality of clinical training including the clinical training curriculum. Involves closely collaborating with a Director of Practicum Training and a Clinical Training Committee.

• Responsible for APA accreditation and program review. Involves close collaboration with the Program Director.

• Responsible for overseeing internship application development, oversight of internships, and support of current interns. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualified candidates should have an earned Doctoral Degree from an APA accredited Clinical Psychology Program, 2-3 years professional training experience (e.g., previously served as an Assistant Training Director, Training Director, DCT, or been a supervisor at an APA accredited internship or site), 2-3 years graduate teaching experience, licensed in any state in the United States, and experience with APA accreditation process under the current Standards of Accreditation.
