The Opportunity: Director of Radiology Why This Role Is ImportantUnder the administrative direction of the Vice President of Imaging and Surgery, the Director of Radiology is responsible for setting the conditions for our unique culture to thrive through the development, start-up, and operations of a comprehensive and digitally innovative way of experiencing and practicing healthcare. The Director of Radiology will be accountable for designing and leading the diagnostic imaging care model, building and empowering care teams to be innovative and creative while working through challenges, oversee all day-to-day business and clinical operations, and work to create positive connections across iCare, Mass General Brigham, and all other community partners.
The Director of Radiology will be responsible for driving iCare's mission towards always aspiring to be people's first choice for health and care, rooted in well-being and kindness, by bringing world-class care closer to home and being the bridge to world-renowned hospitals and research when needed. Direct oversight of all imaging modalities including MRI, CT, ultrasound, breast imaging, cardiac testing and X-ray.
What You'll Work OnThe Director of Radiology will be primarily accountable for:
Program Development-
- Designs, builds, and manages a multi- disciplinary program across the Imaging and Cardiac Testing service lines
- Develops relationships and leads team building with physician leadership, senior administration, and other colleagues to achieve defined service line/organizational goals
- Collaborates with other service lines and iCare committees ensuring connection to improve the level of organizational cohesion, information sharing and problem solving
- Partners with clinical services organizations across the MGB system to support enterprise-wide initiatives
- Contributes to MGB Enterprise Radiology quality improvement and service efforts
Strategy/Business Development and Innovation-
- In conjunction with clinical and senior administrative leadership, sets the vision of the service line and executes that mission
- Directs daily operations of service line by translating business vision and strategy into operational goals, objectives, workflows and implementation plans for local operations managers
- In conjunction with the physician/clinical leadership, identifies new technology and diagnostic opportunities, including the development of practical business plans to support the venture
- Identifies and leads innovation projects to continuously enhance patient and staff experience and quality of care
Financial Management-
- Is accountable for delivering service line operational and capital budgets in line with strategic goals, financial projections, and long-term forecasted development across iCare sites
- Maintains a thorough understanding of clinical reimbursement and managed care issues specific to service-line
- Identifies opportunities to optimize clinical reimbursement and implements new policies and procedures as necessary
Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
- Acts as an advocate for patients and ordering providers
- Ensures risk mitigation, patient safety, and compliance with best practice across the MGB iCare Imaging service line
- Partners with the MGB iCare Executive Director for Quality and Safety to review safety events and near misses in Imaging, participates in Collaborative Case Review, and works towards High Reliability across the service line
- Oversees all Radiation Safety practices across MGB iCare
- Translates MGB Integrated Care program customer goals to the Imaging and Cardiac Testing service lines
- Targets key areas for intervention and establishes priorities for mobilizing resources
- Maximizes current MGB Enterprise quality improvement efforts ensuring that initiatives support improvement of operational costs and iCare-wide operations improvement initiatives
- Responsible for all budgeting aspects of improvement efforts and service/quality expectations
People Management-
- Is accountable for staffing multi-modality clinical imaging operations spread across eastern New England
- Develops recruitment and retention strategies with human resources to hire, retain and develop qualified colleagues
- Functions as a role model for all iCare colleagues through positive attitude, adherence to organizational policies and procedures and/or professional code of ethics

Required Experience
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or a related field required
- 8+ years of managerial experience in a healthcare setting with at least 5 of those in imaging
- High proficiency in Microsoft tools (Power Point, Excel, Word, etc)
Preferred Experience We Hope You Have
- Experience managing clinical operations in ambulatory care settings are a plus
- Record of data driven decision making and innovation
