The Medicare Competitive Analytics Director serves as an integral member of the Medicare Market Intelligence and Competitive Analytics team responsible for leading the development and use of multi-dimensional research and analytics to inform Emergent Holdings Medicare portfolio's relative position within markets and for driving new growth analytics and initiatives that bolster performance for Medicare Advantage Group and Individual products, Medicare Supplement and stand-alone Part D offerings. As part of this team, the Director will work closely with market-facing segments and functional areas as a strategic advisor and partner, contributing to the development and implementation of tactics that support strategic goals that include growth/retention, marketing, profitability, and new product opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

  • Support membership reporting and forecasting, including variance analysis, defining growth strategies and goals
  • Create dashboards, reports, scorecards, and data visualizations by structuring and processing qualitative and quantitative data to draw insightful conclusions
  • Work closely with IT, product, operations, sales and other internal stakeholders to plan data strategy, scope out resource requirements, proactively identify opportunities for improvement, and build robust scalable tools to empower decision making at all levels of the company
  • Define data requirements to solve business problems and develop data solution, across all different types of data that can address business, including but not limited to operation data, product related data, customer profile, consumer behavior, 3rd party data.
  • Transform data into opportunities - establish hypotheses, dig into the data, and seek to understand root causes - to drive business impact; using tools such as MS Excel, Access, Power BI and/or Tableau
  • Lead market insights to define priority opportunities to optimize Individual growth, including but not limited to, supporting product development and service area expansion, identifying micro-segments and cohorts for growth, developing business cases to inform growth opportunities
  • Develop communication vehicles to ensure insights are articulated in a compelling manner and customized for different stakeholders
  • Assist leadership by investigating, reviewing, and recommending innovative solutions which identify problems/root cause of issues; support special projects and key initiatives
  • Analytics data and model documentation and planning
  • Lead through influence to drive alignment and action in a highly matrixed environment
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of key concepts, trends, and practices in the insurance industry, business, products, programs (including provider data, networks, etc.), corporate organizational structure (including functional responsibilities), and basic research principles/methodologies
  • Maintain confidentiality of information processed, as appropriate
DIRECTION EXERCISED:

Directly supervises exempt and non-exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the engagement process.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Health Policy, Business or a related field required. Master's or MBA preferred. Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required.

EXPERIENCE:

8 years of experience and technical/functional expertise in several of the following areas: Management consulting, financial analysis, project management, and/or strategy; direct Medicare experience is preferred. 5 years leadership experience required. Previous experience at a highly complex organization or within the healthcare industry preferred.

  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to deliver executive level and effective deliverables in PowerPoint

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Flexibility with work location, options include:
  • Emergent Holdings' office in Southfield, Michigan
  • Remote, with majority of work conducted on Eastern Standard time
  • Occasional travel may be required
