Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting the SVP/CFO in directing and controlling the operation and management of the accounting department and providing financial and decision support to all departments within the organization.
Scope of Position:
Candidate is responsible for overseeing the Merchandise Accounts Payable and Indirect Tax areas of the finance department. Candidate will also be heavily involved in ongoing systems implementation, accounting rules adoption and process improvement initiatives impacting all areas within the finance organization.
Must be a catalyst/thought starter for driving streamlined accounting policies and procedures and providing timely, accurate and actionable information to department heads to manage their respective areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the merchandise accounts payable and indirect tax teams.
  • Through this oversight, supports the timely close of the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting periods in accordance with company standards.
  • Accountable for ensuring that policies and procedures (internal controls) are in place to provide assurance that the company assets are protected.
  • In partnership with others within Finance, significant involvement in the adoption of ASC 842 (lease accounting standard) and investigation/selection/deployment of automation tools to decrease time to close monthly, quarterly and annual accounting periods.
  • Provides technical accounting GAAP guidance and support.
  • Ensures that company financial records, under responsibility, are maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP. Responsible for reviewing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure this compliance.
  • Ensures that the areas under their leadership are staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities, noted above. Responsible for continued development and direct supervision of these associates.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 10 years of combined Public Accounting and Private Industry accounting experience
  • CPA preferred
  • Prior management experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and hands-on across departmental functions.
  • Retail/consumer products experience desirable.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
