Summary:

The Director, Oncology Reimbursement is responsible for the development and management of a National Field Reimbursement program with the goal of ensuring optimal access for DSI oncology products. This role is responsible for leading, directing and managing activities of a team of Field Reimbursement Managers within a national footprint.. This role will be the National contact on all reimbursement matters related to the successful launch of DSI oncology products and provide leadership, management and operations with oversight that aligns to DSI strategy and business goals. The Director Oncology Reimbursement will connect strategy to execution in order to deliver value to DSI and provide limited support to HCPs to help facilitate appropriate patient access to DSI medicines. This role will be responsible for leading the team of Field Reimbursement Managers toward the achievement of established goals, meet National metrics/service level requirements, and ensuring all goals are met compliantly and in a fiscally responsible manner. Other responsibilities may include managing vendor partnerships and client relationship management, strategy development, dashboard development and ensuring appropriate training content. The Director Oncology Reimbursement will participate in client, National, Regional and local strategic meetings, as well as lead meetings with their Field Reimbursement Managers team. The Director will be responsible for ensuring field personnel interact directly and responsibly with HUB vendors.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with DSI, internal partners, operations and third party vendors, including the HUB, to ensure efficient operational effectiveness and strategy is understood, effective, incorporated from aligned recommendations/direction and successfully executed. Identifies challenges, issues and/or inefficiencies and quickly resolves related issues.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, retains, develops and leads diverse, high performing Field Reimbursement Managers to their full potential. Provides frequent, ongoing performance feedback to all direct reports and fosters a team oriented working environment. Oversees performance management process for all team members and ensures fair, timely resolution of disciplinary process. Fosters an environment that rewards accomplishment in a compliant and ethical manner and encourages the advancement and retention of productive employees.
  • Builds on existing relationships with payers, Specialty Pharmacies, and hospital systems to develop and implement strategies which helps to facilitate appropriate patient access to DSI oncology therapies. Collaborates with internal partners on the development of long-term relationships between payers and DSI internal partners to help identify areas of common interest for collaboration in furtherance of patient access. Understands specifics of support questions associated with patient reimbursement.
  • Develops and leads plans that effectively translate National strategy to the local level by leading and directing the reimbursement team. Together with DSI leadership, works to define and establish appropriate behaviors and actions that will lead to high levels of customer satisfaction whereby facilitating access to appropriate patients for the Oncology portfolio of products. Demonstrates understanding of market access and represents DSI at key meetings, functions and conferences when appropriate. Understands approved price and contracting constructs in alignment the overall market access and company strategy.
  • Maintains a deep understanding of DSI policies/requirements and performs all responsibilities in a compliant/ethical manner. How applicable, handles PHI appropriately by ensuring compliance with HIPPA regulations, laws and internal company guidelines. Controls business expenses related to field activities and maintains P&L budget as assigned. Operates efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications:

Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's Degree preferred or
  • MBA preferred

Experience Qualifications
  • 10 or More Years in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry required
  • 4 or More Years people management experience preferred
  • 1 or More Years pharmaceutical/biotech product access/reimbursement/Specialty Pharmacy experience required
  • Account Management experience preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 70% Must be able to travel to meetings and related Sales events, including customer appointments and field execution inspection. Will be in Home Office 25-30% of time for strategic planning.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company requirements.
