RICHMOND MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Founded in 1946, Richmond Raceway is America's Premier Short Track. The venue annually hosts two NASCAR race weekends, featuring the NASCAR Cup Series and either NASCAR Xfinity Series or NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, as well as a Whelan Modified Series race on the iconic ¾-mile D-shaped oval. Richmond Raceway is a regional leader for events including sports, live music, and consumer trade shows. The Richmond Raceway Complex's 1,100 plus acre multipurpose facility hosts more than 200 live events over 280 event days annually, including concerts with top national recording artists at Virginia Credit Union LIVE!, the region's only covered amphitheater..

SUMMARY

The Director, Event Marketing is responsible for the overall development and execution of marketing campaigns designed to build awareness and drive attendance to track events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Lead the go-to-market strategy, working closely with central and regional departmental functions, for NASCAR and core motorsports events, from concept and development to execution, optimization, and reporting; play a critical role in the development and execution of the event campaigns.

Leverage creative thinking and problem-solving to improve the customer journey across all touchpoints, strengthen customer relationships, and drive new business; innovate and be nimble.

Align internal/external stakeholders around event specific marketing plans, goals, and objectives.

Manage timing, tracking and execution of consumer touchpoint deliverables (directly and indirectly).

Oversee direction to Research & Insights and Data Strategy teams to identify fan/consumer insights to inform campaign plans, audience targeting, messaging, etc.

Analyze sales and revenue trends with Admissions/Ticketing team to inform campaign planning, as well as ongoing optimization throughout the campaign.

Oversee new fan development and prospecting opportunities in local market(s).

Lead Non-NASCAR event marketing campaigns and work with third party promoters as necessary - music festivals, motorcycle events, etc.

With Communications and Driver/Team Marketing, manage in-market driver appearances.

Support Communications and Content teams with earned media, promotional, and content capture opportunities at-track and in-market.

Work with Event Experience team to build out weekend content and enhance the fan experience.

Activate onsite event experience plans for event weekends for assigned tracks.

Travel: 15% including some weekends.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of eight years of motorsports/ sports marketing industry, marketing, project management, public relations/communications experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
