ADP is hiring an experienced Director - Application Development with demonstrated experience in AWS, serverless/API deployments and automations. that will oversee team application development activities and be responsible for new development and/or maintenance of software products, features, components and tools. We are looking for a qualified candidate to join our growing engineering team in Pasadena, CA. In particular, those with a passion for directing teams to build high performance backend systems while solving problems around fault tolerance, reliability, scalability, consistency, availability, throttling, and queueing. This associate will direct both project and functional management efforts during the software development lifecycle. Collaborate with other development related functional areas such as architecture, product management and project management to ensure products meet high quality. Staffing management including hiring of full time and contingent personnel, career planning, training, and performance management. You will be part of the Synergy team leading technical innovation to build Next Gen Integration and File transfer services to Jurisdictional agencies leveraging cutting edge technologies while migrating from a legacy platform. We look for self-starters who thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment being able to change direction quickly, and showing an eagerness to learn new technologies as the need arises. This position requires hands strong leadership and presentation skills dealing with all levels of management. You will be part of agile environment working with multiple teams of talented engineers, product owners & other stakeholders continually developing, deploying and testing application software who are geographically disbursed between U.S and India.

THINGS YOU'LL DO:

  • Directs one or more Agile development groups in the successful design, development, implementation and maintenance of applications. Orchestrate SDLC processes and allocate resources in accordance with priorities.
  • Effectively interacts with key stakeholders including Product Management, Product Marketing, and business partners in the development of specifications and the creation, testing and implementation of system products.
  • Responsible for managing one or more critical business initiative efforts. Provides and administers standard procedures and principles for the department for both personnel and technical issues.
  • Directs the development of procedures and policies related to applications development and maintenance. Lead and monitor SDLC for effectiveness & productivity. Participates in key project reviews and organizational activities.
  • Ensures that all projects meet time and budget constraints while ensuring that specifications are met and high-quality products are delivered.
  • Effectively manages Associate performance; attracts and retains key talent; leads team in manner that results in highly engaged Associates.
  • Keeps up to date on technological changes, especially with regard to job-related languages, operating systems, tools and methodologies. Stays current with skills required for job assignment and progression to further knowledge, skills and abilities.
    Effectively demonstrates position-appropriate business, people and market leadership as defined in ADP's Leadership Expectations model.
  • High degree of collaboration and partnerships with other peer development organizations, product management, business unit clients, and end users to produce innovative solutions and establish business priorities
  • Act as an expert source of technology and application knowledge within the DevOps domain.

EXPERIENCE YOU NEED:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relate technical discipline
  • 12+ years of relevant software and engineering experience
  • 8+ years of people management experience
  • Manage and work with globally distributed teams
  • Track record of attracting, developing and retaining key talent; builds high performance teams
  • Proven experience as Software Engineer Director or similar role
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of Software Engineering systems and their specifications
  • Experience must include large scale application platform and infrastructure management. Experience with public cloud providers such as AWS and Google Cloud is required
  • Lead the team responsible for the design, run, and operations of our AWS-based infrastructure applications and services
  • Automate provisioning of AWS resources to allow complete self-service for engineering teams.
  • Excellent problem solving, excellent interpersonal skills and analytical skills, ability to think strategically and logically
  • Strong organizational skills, tracking multiple development tasks simultaneously and can synthesize concrete results
  • Experience developing web applications and web services (Restful and SOAP)
  • Experience in application development using Java and Spring framework (Spring Data, Spring Integration, Spring Cloud modules)
  • Experience in developing Kafka producers and Consumers
  • Knowledge on NoSQL database like Mongo DB and Docker/Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Prior experience in Integration Projects is a plus.

  • Experience in Orchestration or Workflow tools such as AWS Step Functions, AWS ECS, AirFlow, MLFlow, Kubernetes.
  • Experience deploying and operating applications built with AWS Services or Open Source software.
  • AWS experience with services like S3, Lambda, API Gateway, Glue, EMR, Sagemaker
