A Great opportunity exists for a Developmental Educator to join our team of passionate, dedicated professionals who make a lasting difference in the lives of children and families!

The Step One Early Intervention Program serves clients from Quincy, Milton, and Randolph, and is available to families with infants and toddlers with special needs, including developmental disabilities, developmental delays, and environmental or biological risk factors. Our team includes developmental educators, speech pathologists, social workers, licensed mental health counselors, teaching assistants, nurses, and physical, occupational, and music therapists.

Working collaboratively with parents and outside care professionals, the team conducts developmental assessments, creates individual family service plans, and offers developmental and therapeutic intervention and ongoing education and support to enable families to best meet the needs of their children.

Step One Early Intervention provides services in the child's home, our learning center, and in community settings, such as childcare centers. At our learning center, a range of group services is offered, including parent-baby and parent-toddler groups, infant massage, and sensory-motor and social-communication groups.

Other Responsibilities include:

• Monitors growth in all developmental domains
  
• Supports parents in coping with their child's delays and/or disabilities
  
• Leads parent-child groups and provides structure and routines within the group
  
• Provides consultation to colleagues around child development
  
• Demonstrates knowledge of etiology, characteristics of common developmental disabilities, and risk factors as well as their effect on early development and caregiver interactions
  
• Describes a child's play behaviors across developmental domains and identifies intervention strategies
  
• Understands the impact of prematurity on development, understands stress signs in infants, and intervention strategies
  
• Select appropriate play activities and adapt activities and/or the environment for children to be successful
  
• Responds to parents' questions regarding development in all domains in a clear and concise manner

Required Skills

Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Development or Special Education required, Master's degree preferred.

Required Experience

Prior experience working with children from birth to age three and their families preferred.

Must have good time management and organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively, maintain flexibility and function autonomously.

Bi Lingual in Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and/or Portuguese preferred.

Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and travel to various sites and towns of Milton, Quincy and Randolph is required.
