Data Warehouse Consultant

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). An ideal candidate must live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations listed here: Norfolk, VA; Indianapolis. IN; Atlanta, GA; Mason, OH.

The Data Warehouse Consultant is responsible for partnering with internal and external business clients and IT to fulfill information needs and support business decisions.

How you will make an impact:

  • Instructs, directs and reviews work of less experience data warehouse analysts.
  • Maintains information policies and procedures to support current and future data information needs.
  • Ensures proper data definitions, ownership, use and integrity of data.
  • Analyzes more complex business user needs, documents information requirements, facilitates the identification of potential gaps in available data and collaborates with business areas to determine best means for acquiring the data needed.
  • Collaborates with IT resources on the creation and maintenance of the content of the data warehouse.
  • Establishes and maintains excellent knowledge of data warehouse data structure design, definitions, capabilities, programming languages, and data integrity issues.
  • Completes metadata assessment and reviews feedback to determine changes needed.
  • Ensures that data definitions are clear and current, and communicates changes to data definitions to all users.
  • Collaborates with IT resources and data owners to define business objectives and definitions for databases including business rules, sources, purge archive criteria, and reload schedule.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Requires BA/BS in related field and a minimum of 6 years experience in data analysis, data modeling, and working with automated data warehouse systems; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background. Experience with programming languages and various statistical programs required.
Preferred Skills, Experiences and Competencies:
  • Experience writing transactional SQL statements
  • Experience in Teradata, and SAS preferred.
  • Additional technical skills in MS-Access, MS Excel and ETL preferred.
  • General knowledge of major components of managed care operations strongly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, PC skills, and oral and written communication skills strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and plan large-scale projects strongly preferred.
