Job Summary:

The Sr. Consultant II Information Technology Risk Management (ITRM) is responsible for executing activities that help identify, analyze, manage, challenge, aggregate, and report on risk. The Sr. Consultant II performs analysis and modeling to mitigate risks, conducts research to identify emerging trends in risk management and risk mitigation, and supports the implementation of programs that ensure or improve the effectiveness of risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technology and business impact and/or risk assessment analysis and assist with recommendations and/or mitigation strategies to management
  • Review changes in company processes, standards, and technology to ensure the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies
  • Conduct analysis to isolate, describe and resolve both real and potential threats that can affect Allstate's technology environment
  • Develops analytic and visual presentation strategies to ensure risk data is conveyed in meaningful and interpretive formats for all audience levels
  • Analyze moderately complex structured and unstructured data from a number of sources to identify key risk drivers
  • Influence technology standards and policies and recommend changes to existing or suggestions for new standards and policies associated with risk mitigation
  • Develop risk reporting for appropriate audiences (for example, to the board of directors so they understand the most significant risks, to senior leadership to ensure they are aware of risks relevant to their parts of the organization, and to individuals to understand their accountability for individual risks)
  • Attend risk and compliance meetings with your business partners to stay on top of risk and control issues
  • Remain up to date on regulations that could impact your business partners risk and control environment
  • Investigate and evaluate issues raised through automated monitoring or through risk and compliance meetings and help prioritize monitoring and management activities to higher risk areas
  • Research and evaluate emerging trends, threats and technologies and identify areas where risk may be an issue in the future
  • Help establish and quantify the organization's 'risk appetite' and tolerance levels and provide risk awareness and technical support to management and staff regarding risk management strategies and programs

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience
  • 3 or more years of related experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Risk or security certification(s) preferred - examples (CRISC, GIAC, CISSP)
Functional Skills
  • Experience with risk management and analytical modeling concepts, including Monte Carlo analysis
  • Oral and written communication skills to partner with employees both internal and external to risk management as well as interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment
  • Effective time management and organization skills with a proven ability to multi-task
  • Inspire trust and confidence in clients through strategic and diplomatic handling of relationships
  • Participates as a member of a team, in one or more of the basic consulting phases of problem definition, data gathering, analysis/ conclusion, and recommendation/ implementation
  • Displays the ability to equitably gain the favor of people from whom something is wanted. Within the context of the job, displays an attitude commensurate with being a good negotiator, including goodwill, collaboration and mutual satisfaction
  • Has knowledge and experience of security concepts, including security standards and procedures
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of Thriving in Change as demonstrated by the ability to adapt well to changes in work assignments
  • Demonstrates the ability to anticipate, identify, reproduce, and resolve simple problems in area of specialty, including business, process and technical problems
  • Encourages 'risk thinking' among senior management by speaking their language and developing communication skills to influence at all levels
