PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Working collaboratively to provide excellent care to patients and families in the safest environment.

Qualifications
• Education: Masters' Degree in Nursing required. Satisfactory completion of an approved formal education program which has as its objective the preparation of professional nurses to practice as nurse practitioner. Completion of a Master's or post Masters' degree in adult or family NP program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).

The NP must also have experience completing history and physical assessments, as well as a background in a surgical and/or perioperative setting

• Other: ANA or other appropriate nursing certification in area of practice and authorization by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing to practice in the expanded role. DEA for prescription writing

  • DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience as a Nurse practitioner required
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner as well previous experience working as a Nurse Practitioner is required.
  • Demonstrated previous experience and expertise in the management and care of the stroke and neurology patient preferred
  • Demonstrated previous experience and expertise in the management and care of post-op neurosurgical patients
  • BLS, ACLS required
  • Membership and active involvement with professional organizations strongly preferred
  • Past critical care experience strongly preferred
  • Current license to practice as an advanced practice nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Required
