Credentialed Veterinary Technician Supervisor


VCA Portage Animal Hospital has been providing excellent veterinary care to the Portage, MI community as an AAHA-Accredited Hospital for over 50 years. Our staff, led by former owner Dr. Cynthia Lunney, has decades of experience and provides care in a beautiful new facility as part of the VCA family of hospitals.

We are seeking a highly experienced Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our leadership team as Technician Supervisor. The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care-with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen. The Technical Supervisor performs a wide range of difficult to complex administrative activities related to the hospital, providing high quality patient care and excellent client service. These activities include, but are not limited to, management of finances and accounting, marketing and promotion of services, staffing and personnel operations, and other discretionary activities which serve to support effective business operations. The Technical Supervisor will lead the technician and assistant team by example with efficiency, positivity, accountability, and clear direction.

This is a working supervisory position which is responsible for the leadership and of the Veterinary Medical Staff. In addition to all Veterinary Technician responsibilities, duties will include, but are not limited to:

· Strong medical and technical skills

· High level of objectivity

· Serve as a VCA ambassador by supporting national and regional initiatives

· Oversee training of technicians and assistants

· Ability to mentor others

· Uphold VCA policies

Education and Experience:

· High school Diploma

· Credentialed Technician or equivalent practice experience of at least 5 years

Authority:

· Interview, hire, train, review, schedule, discipline, and deliver Performance Improvement Plans: under the direction of HM

Physical Requirements:

· Dependable, punctual attendance

· Must be able to lift 40 pounds

· Must be willing and able to work long and/or irregular hours under pressure conditions including evenings and weekends.

· Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift, and reach during a min of an 8 hour day
