Join our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Counselor in the Opioid Treatment Clinicprogram at Behavioral Health Network!

**NOTICE**

In accordance with the BHN Mandatory COVID vaccine policy - all staff, interns, temps, residents and contractors are required to be fully vaccinated no later than day one of employment. Medical or religious exemptions will be offered and must be approved prior to starting work.

The same guidelines noted above apply during flu season (defined as December 1st - through end of flu season as announced by the CDC) for BHN's Mandatory Influenza Vaccine policy.

Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support the Opioid Treatment Clinic program with the following:

  • Utilizing a diverse knowledge of biopsychosocial, spiritual, emotional, and aftercare planning dimensions of substance use disorders.
  • Performing thorough and complete assessments at the intake of individuals served within the program.
  • Determining the extent to which substance use and related social detriments interfere with individuals' functioning.
  • Collaborating with the treatment team to help individuals served with treatment plans during individual and group sessions.
  • Providing care with respect, sensitivity, and in a manner that preserves and protects client autonomy, dignity, and rights of individuals served.

Who are we?

BHN's Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) is a Medication Assisted Treatment Program to assist individuals who are addicted to opiates and are experiencing their dysfunctional effects to gain and maintain the skills needed to achieve an opiate-free lifestyle. The OTP program uses evidence-based medication protocols approved by the Medical Director to ensure patients safely detox from these substances. These protocols are implemented through assessment and re-assessment practices throughout the process.

What are we looking for in a Counselor?
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (social work, psychology, human services, etc.) (required).
  • CADAC, CAS, or LADC (preferred).
  • Two years of experience in substance use treatment settings (required).
  • Experience providing case management and/or counseling services as part of a clinical team to patients in a treatment setting (preferred).
  • Bilingual in Spanish & English (preferred).
  • Ability to understand, empathize and work with individuals with opioid use disorder, dually diagnosed and/or methadone-maintained population.
  • Demonstrated ability to approach individuals served in a sensitive and therapeutic manner to understand and work with patients' problems.
  • Demonstrated skills in assessing the range of substance use disorder, dual diagnosis and methadone issues, recognizing special needs and adjusting treatment approaches accordingly.
  • Broad knowledge of substance use disorders and treatment techniques.
