Job Summary

The Corrosion Specialist has primary responsibility to successfully manage the Corrosion Control Programs for the Company’s natural gas gathering and transmission pipelines and facilities, underground natural gas storage facilities and natural gas processing facilities. This position does not have direct reports.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversees the internal, external and atmospheric corrosion control programs (Corrosion Control Programs) for DT Midstream pipelines and facilities.
  • Responsible for compliance to Company’s O&M procedures as well as state and federal cathodic protection and corrosion control regulations.
  • Participate as Company’s Corrosion Control Program Subject Matter Expert in regulatory audits as requested by the Codes and Regulatory group.
  • Manage the design, cost, installation and maintenance of Company’s cathodic protection and other corrosion control equipment thru use of third-party corrosion consultants and contractors (Corrosion Contractor).
  • Develop and manage Capital and O&M Corrosion Control Program budget.
  • Review results of Corrosion Control projects and use continuous improvement principles to incorporate lessons learned into future work scope, O&M work and/or construction specifications.
  • Responsible for coordinating CIS, DCVG and AC Mitigation surveys with the Corrosion Contractor and reviewing the reports to ensure recommendations meet Company’s procedures and specifications.[PJR2]
  • Responsible for coordinating atmospheric corrosion inspection surveys with the Corrosion Contractor and/or Company Operations personnel.
  • Follow-up with remediation actions identified from electrical surveys by working with the Corrosion Contractor to develop scope, budget, and schedules.
  • Ensures Company personnel and Corrosion Contractors are qualified in accordance with Company’s Operator Qualification (OQ) Program to perform Corrosion Control Program related Covered Tasks.
  • Drives improvement of Corrosion Control Programs through maintenance of subject matter knowledge and technical expertise.
  • Interact with Integrity Management and GIS to track identified corrosion anomalies within the pipeline system.
  • Manages and maintains Company’s Corrosion Control Program records.
  • Prepare scope of work and work orders for Corrosion Control work. Reviews and approves contractor invoices.
  • Ensures proper document retention of project and survey data, records, and reports into the Company’s Pipeline Compliance Software (PCS).
  • Prepares and updates Corrosion Control O&M Procedures, Construction Specifications and Corrosion Control Guidelines to support the CP program and participates in technical committee review.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • 5 years of oil or gas pipeline industry experience in cathodic protection and corrosion control
  • NACE CP certification
Other Qualifications Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Chemistry
  • Working knowledge of American Innovations Pipeline Compliance Software (PCS) Cathodic Protection Data Manager
Other Requirements
  • Travel is required (up to 30%).
  • Working knowledge of PHMSA 49 CFR 192 as it pertains to corrosion control requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with knowledge of, or ability to learn, GIS and Pipeline Compliance Software (PCS).
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with attention to detail and ability to recommend process improvements.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision in a diverse, multidiscipline team environment.
  • Ability to manage activities for multiple projects in parallel while effectively managing time and resources required.
