Our multidisciplinary team is working toward the development of a novel platform capable of delivering varied mRNA/viral cargos to specific cells throughout the CNS in an effort to create novel therapeutics for a litany of intractable diseases/disorders (e.g., from metabolic to cancer).

The incoming student will contribute to the project by assisting with the developing high-throughput screening assays and the design novel nanoparticle-based delivery systems. Primary responsibilities will include mammalian cell culture, in vitro testing of nanoparticles on cells/tissues and ex vivo testing / analyses of tissues derived from animals treated with our engineered particle (i.e., pigs, mice and rats).

Qualifications
The candidate should be a student enrolled in a B.S./M.A. program or equivalent in biomedical engineering, material science, chemical engineering, bioengineering or a related field. An ideal candidate will have a research background in molecular biology and/or drug delivery. In addition, the ideal candidate should have some experience in the following:

• Mammalian cell culture
• Molecular biology
• Drug formulation
• In vivo experimentation

Candidates must have self-motivation and possess a willingness to learn new techniques; strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; comfort summarizing and reporting results to interdisciplinary researchers; commitment to exceeding standards and producing accurate, high quality work; meticulous attention to detail; practiced documentation skills; and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
