RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client in search of a Controller in Saint Louis, MO.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements: Manage the annual time study and implement the results; Routinely review and update the cost allocation process
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures
  • Coordinate all audit activity and gather 990 information
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present accurate and timely financial: Clearly communicate financial statement information; Monitor financial progress and changes; Inform leadership of new or unusual trends
  • Assist with the annual budgeting and planning process: Administer and review all financial plans; Perform variance analysis and provide explanations as needed
  • Support the CFO in engaging the board's audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery
  • Oversee financial, project/program and grants accounting: Ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/contractual period; Gather financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants
  • Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership program leadership: Assess the financial efficacy of program operations; Establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations
  • Manage and track the performance of invested assets and ensure consistency with policies and investment guidelines
  • Leverage strengths of the finance team members: Clarify roles and responsibilities; Develop and implement training programs to help each team member maximize individual and organizational goals


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required; CPA and Master's degree in Accounting or Business administration preferred
  • Mature leader with 5 to 7 years of accounting and finance experience; Ideally in a complex nonprofit organization
  • Solid experience coordinating audit activities, managing grant reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments and inventory
  • Proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other web-based applications; Microsoft Dynamics experience and Ceres or the ability to learn required
  • Strong interpersonal, analytic, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including non-finance managers
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work at special events and/or other projects that may occur in the evenings or during weekends; Meeting attendance may require overnight travel
