Department Summary

Facilities Planning, Design and Construction (FPDC) provides the following services to the UNT community: construction estimating, site design, architectural & interior design, engineering design, full project management, construction inspection, furniture procurement, campus mapping, space analysis, and capital planning. FPDC is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable State & Federal statutes, laws and codes related to State buildings, procurement and construction. FPDC also maintains building records and data for all campus facilities including utility & infrastructure maps, surveys, site plans, floor plans, construction documents, & other building records.

The Facilities organization at UNT is a service provider comprised of the following divisions: Facilities Planning Design & Construction (PDC); Facilities Maintenance (FM) and Facilities Support & Services (FSS). We are responsible for the planning, renovation, maintenance and repair of university buildings and facilities, as well as other services playing an essential role to the mission of the University of North Texas. Facilities has over 325 employees who lead the way in caring for and operating over 175 facilities across 960 acres of property. Our goal is to provide world-class support for the University by ensuring safe, reliable, efficient facility and utility operations delivered with outstanding customer service and effective stewardship of resources and the environment. Position Overview

The Facilities Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Construction Project Manager in our Facilities Plan Design Construction Auxiliary area.Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:Oversee the construction of complex projects including but not limited to kitchen/dining facilities. Coordinate construction implementation with inhouse staff, contracted architects and engineersAssist with the selection of consultants and contractorsSupervise longrange facilities capital planning efforts. Ensure timely completion of projects, within budget and scopeClearly communicate with clients and management project status/issues/concernsIdentify potential risks while devising proactive ways to solve themEnsure all building and safety codes, safety inspections, campus guidelines and local and state regulations are metOther duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and five years' of related experience in the construction industry; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience managing medium to large construction projects.Experience working in construction for a public education institution and/or commercial setting.Knowledge of building codes, construction documents and construction safety standards.Proficiency in specific software may be required.Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in MEP project management,facilities operations, planning or maintenance. Good problem solving skills. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Experience working with Higher Education Capital Projects.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Possession of a valid Texas driver?s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment; ability to drive a vehicle and maintain coverage under University liability insurance policy, if required to drive University vehicles.

Job Duties:

  • % - Provides management oversight for all phases (programming design and construction) of complex interior and exterior renovation and site projects, including coordinating consultants, contractors, material, equipment, ensuring specifications are being followed, schedule is maintained and project is within budget. - ()
  • % - Provides management oversight for inhouse projects involving the development of estimates, schematic design, design development, and construction documents with specifications for construction and renovation projects. - ()
  • % - Coordinates with UNT departments, UNT systems ITSS, and facilities maintenance. - ()
  • % - Administrative: Utilizes project management software and CAD (AutoCAD/Revit) programs for project. Provides monthly project progress reports, state reporting, and backup documentation for various leadership review and approval. - ()
  • % - Coordinates construction services with Auxiliary Maintenance on Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing projects. Assists fellow PMs on potential building code and inspection implications. - ()
  • % - Consistently completes expected duties in a timely manner without constant supervision. Accepts responsibility for own work and follows through on commitments. - ()

Monday - Thursday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm Friday 7:30 am - 2:30 pm
