Summary :
The Compressor Operator is responsible for operations and maintenance of compressor stations involving electrical and mechanical problems.
Job Duties :

  • Identify potential problem(s) from actual data.
  • Identify causes of low oil shutdown (actual or false, plugged level controller screen, etc.)
  • The site, machine, and dehydration identification (station, unit #, make, type, etc.)
  • Diagnose and replace leaking PSV (pressure safety valve).
  • Identify leading PSV (hot vent, low interstage pressure, etc.)
  • Normal fuel skid pressures for fuel and start gas. Normal dehydration temperature operating ranges and volume capacity. Dehydration electronic operation procedures.
  • To locate and identify stuck scrubber dump valve. To identify and locate exhaust leaks.
  • Safe and proper startup procedures, operation, and shutdown of portable heaters.
  • Identify the difference between suction and discharge compressor valves.
  • Demonstrate proper logging of data.
  • Correctly fill oil from bulk storage.
  • Identify and fill coolant from drums (e.g., auxiliary and main lines).
  • Demonstrate proper procedure for putting station back online following shut-in for high water content, high O2, etc.
  • Demonstrate diagnosis of ESD (Emergency Shut Down).
  • Demonstrate how dehydration unit works and operates, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Calculate proper strokes for dehydration. Rebuild suction and discharge valves.
  • Rebuild or repair non-functioning dump valve.
  • Explain proper settings for the liquid level controller and why each setting is used.
  • Set main burner fuel mixture for maximum efficiency.
  • Read and set correct lube rates for the lubricator system.
  • Demonstrates working of dehydrating equipment, including operating, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Site identification, machine identification, dehydration identification (station, unit #, make, type).
  • The safe and proper startup, operation, and shutdown of portable heaters
  • Proper lockout/tagout on engine/compressor, dehydration, and electrical equipment
  • Properly logs data.
  • Performs general housekeeping and routine maintenance of compressor facilities
  • Rebuilds suction valves, discharge valves, and dump valves as needed.
  • Follows and supports all Pioneer HSE policies at all times.
  • Drives Company vehicles over various road conditions and terrain, including highways, rural roads with paved and gravel surface, and off-road situations including two-track roads.
  • Road conditions include steep hills, muddy roads, snow-covered roads, and other poor conditions. Installs tire chains for better traction as needed.
  • Washes and maintains equipment to company standards
  • Knows and uses appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications :
  • Three (3) years as Compressor Operator or applicable oilfield mechanical or electronic experience
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Broader knowledge of compressor operations
  • Solid understanding of dehydration and water handling facilities
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License
