Job Summary

The Compliance Specialist will apply pipeline operational knowledge and experience to ensure Company’s compliance with state and federal natural gas pipeline safety regulations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Audit operational and construction records for compliance with state and federal natural gas pipeline safety regulations and Company’s Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Plan.
  • Audit operations and construction field activities for compliance with state and federal natural gas pipeline safety regulations, the Company’s O&M Plan and the Company’s Construction Specifications.
  • Conducts evaluations of employee’s ability to perform Covered Tasks in accordance with Company’s Operator Qualification (OQ) Program.
  • Conducts, coordinates and develops/revises evaluator training associated with OQ Program.
  • Ensure records for employee and contractor Operator Qualifications are recorded into a database using 3rd party interface such as Veriforce, etc.
  • Conducts training of Company employees on Construction Specifications, O&M Plan and results of record audits.
  • Participates in the maintenance and review of the O&M Plan, Construction Specifications and other programs as may be requested.
  • Stays current with current and proposed applicable state and federal pipeline safety codes.
  • Serves as a liaison for all applicable stakeholders as identified in the Company’s Public Awareness Program.
  • Serves as a representative of Company at local damage prevention councils.
  • Coordinates with operations and suppliers to obtain training on new products/equipment.
  • Network with other industrial leaders and associations in developing course curriculum and web-based training modules.
  • Work with the Contract Management team to ensure that Contractors can meet the requirements of the OQ Program and Company operating procedures.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • HS Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • 5 years of natural gas operations, maintenance, or support experience.
  • Working knowledge of 49 CFR Part 191 and 192 and applicable state pipeline safety codes.
  • Thorough knowledge of natural gas pipeline operations to evaluate Company operations and construction staff on OQ Covered Tasks.
  • Experience in training and development of natural gas pipeline operations.
Other Qualifications Preferred
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business focus.
  • Working knowledge of state damage prevention laws.
Other Requirements
  • Travel is required (up to 30%).
  • Good organizational skills with flexibility to handle multiple projects and to prioritize assignments in a fast-paced, changing work environment.
  • Strong presentation skills with effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform analytical skills in reviewing data and reports.
  • Technical and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with other teams such as operations, construction, engineering and management.
  • Strong computer skills; proficient with word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software.
  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
  • Ability to travel to field locations as required and to conduct field evaluations/inspections in a pipeline right-of-way environment and/or all-weather conditions.
  • Ability to work outside normal working hours periodically to represent Company at meetings or conferences related to Company’s operations.
