Job Summary

This front-line management position supports the Company’s business objectives by providing hands-on leadership of compensation, payroll, and benefits operations. This position will also ensure compliance with maintaining corporate records and supporting the Company’s business objectives by maintaining strong relationships with outside vendors. This position collaborates with the HR Consultants and other core HR areas to ensure HR initiatives are aligned and integrated with business unit objectives. Work involves performing complex services requiring a high level of independent judgment, initiative and discretion. Work is mainly self-directed, with work results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Partners with Director of HR and vendors on competitive/best practice benefits design and strategy and ensures open and consistent communication; partners with Senior Leadership and Director of HR to ensure alignment and integrations of strategies, projects, and programs for successful implementation and results
  • Oversees the administration of company benefits including welfare insurances, 401(k), COBRA, FMLA, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, and Worker’s Compensation
  • Works with external Benefits Consultant to lead annual benefits open enrollment processes including change management, plan communications, meetings, etc.
  • Supervises the payroll and benefits staff, including planning, managing and evaluating work performance; developing and monitoring budget; and selecting and developing staff
  • Ensures the creation, retention and destruction of HR related corporate records is performed in compliance with SOX audit requirements
  • Maintains standardized processes to ensure quality and consistency in the management of the Company’s payroll and benefit programs
  • Leads support team to ensure all benefit related issues are handled promptly, efficiently, and in compliance with plan guidelines, Federal and state regulations, and company policies and procedures while maintaining a high-level of customer service
  • Develops a team environment that values diversity and uses various individual’s strengths to benefit the team
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in human resources, business administration or related field
  • Five years human resources experience (minimum of two years leadership/project management experience that includes demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships and develop productive work teams)
Other Requirements:
  • Knowledge of a broad range of HR-related functions with in-depth expertise in at least one functional area, preferably in benefits or compensation
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations and professional best practices
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, human resources information systems (ADP experience preferred), and internet-based benefit platforms and applications (MorganStanley, Empower, etc. preferred)
  • Ability to understand the Human Resources operations at a broad financial, technical and operational level and to translate business needs into action.
  • Ability to efficiently handle competing priorities and tasks, remain organized and meet deadlines
  • Ability to gather and analyze data, prepare reports and make recommendations
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with both a functional and business leaders, who collaborate on employee issues and decisions (including performance management, compensation and development)
