Commission Accounting Analyst

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Commissions Accounting Analyst will calculate, adjust, and process sales commissions for thousands of agents. The Analyst will answer queries, researching problems as needed and explaining the way the commission is calculated. The role will be troubleshooting root cause of a problem if necessary and taking corrective actions if needed in order to ensure accurate payroll. The position is also responsible for the accounting & auditing of commission accounts. A very high attention to detail and strong work ethic are required.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains commission database including all entry and maintenance of data
  • Ensures accurate and timely payment of commissions
  • Receives and provide proper explanations to questions from Sales Management and other Stakeholders, provides excellent service and resolves issues in a positive manner.
  • Identifies, research, and reconcile any discrepancies
  • Performs complex analyses of commission issues and develops potential solutions
  • Builds reports for business metrics
  • Maintains detailed, accurate and organized records
  • Performs accurate and detailed audit of commission statements in accordance with requirements
  • Proactively develops recommendations to further automate and improve the commission process
  • May perform other functions that may be assigned

  • Tact, diplomacy and sensitivity to respect confidential information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Must be a very organized, detail-oriented and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel/Access skills and experience with SQL are essential
  • Reliable and predictable attendance of your assigned shift
  • Ability to work Full-Time and/or Part-Time based on the specific position for which you're applying.

Required Knowledge & Experience

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting or equivalent number of year's analytical experience.
  • Experience with sales compensation calculations and reporting.
  • Experience working in insurance industry a plus.
  • Experience with IBM Cognos Incentive Compensation System a plus.
