Hours: Mon - Fri 7:00 am - 3:30 pm or 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

On-site position located in Mason City, IA

About The Job:

Responsible for reviewing documentation, assigning accurate CPT and diagnosis codes, and entering codes into EHR and/or Cerner coding abstract and/or 3M Arms. Sources of documentation may include office services, nursing home visits, inpatient, ER, outpatient hospital visits, and lab requisitions.
Responsible for communicating with providers if their documentation does not support the billing code they selected.

What We Are Looking For:

Education [formal]:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Post high school education is preferred.
College coursework in medical terminology is required.
College coursework in Anatomy and Physiology and coding is preferred.

Experience:
Minimum of one year coding or other applicable experience

Self-motivation and ability to set work priorities to meet productivity standard
Critical thinking and analytical skills
People-oriented with the ability to foster a work environment of open communication, trust, support, and active employee participation. Independent decision-making skills required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrates judgment, tact, and professionalism in dealing with other healthcare professionals, physicians, and the public.
Ability to problem solve using practical problem solving methodology
