Description

The Clinician Researcher III position is a key contributor in the Healthcare Policy and Quality Measurement division providing clinical expertise and healthcare experience to our policy and medication-related contracts. This position will assist in formulating a strategic implementation plan and designing an end-to-end workflow for a new national program focused on electronic prescribing of controlled substances. The position may also provide support to the development of research project proposals and analytic plans. Details regarding potential project assignments and key sources of data will be discussed with candidates during the interview process.

Essential Competencies, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and pharmacy practice guidance to an interdisciplinary team for medication-related contract activities.
  • Participate in the design of policy and program implementation workflows, research plans, and literature reviews.
  • Oversee analysis of Medicare Part D claims data and collaborate with statisticians/analysts.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of technical reports, abstracts, manuscripts, and contract deliverables.
  • Communicate and work well with internal team members, community partners, and stakeholders to plan, facilitate, and execute activities.
  • Present and communicate project results to staff members and customers.
  • Supervise and mentor students on advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) rotations.
  • Remain current and knowledgeable about new initiatives, activities, opportunities, tools, and techniques through research, training, and continuous education.
  • Represent HSAG in a professional manner.

Education and/or Experience

  • PharmD with active license. 
  • A minimum of five (5) years of work experience.
    • At least two (2) years of healthcare experience (e.g., direct patient care, pharmacy operation, managed care pharmacy, community pharmacy experience).
  • Experience in leading research projects, workflow design, and/or program implementation is preferred.
  • Experience in Medicare Part D data research and/or analyses is preferred.
  • Experience in leading and producing peer-reviewed publications, written deliverables, and/or technical reports.
  • Experience precepting pharmacy students.

Other Qualifications

  • Experience in managed care pharmacy/drug utilization review with Medicare Part D data is preferred.
  • Experience in community pharmacy operations and/or electronic prescribing systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with CMS quality reporting programs (e.g. Quality Payment Program, Medicare Part D Star Ratings) is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills to capture and track information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and work with multiple teams.
  • Ability to interact with a dispersed team across multiple offices and remote locations
