Job Summary

The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will manage all aspects of a NIH, NINR-funded clinical behavioral research study in the IU School of Nursing. The CRC will assign and coordinate activities of the study to ensure protocol, regulatory, standard operating procedures (SOP), and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) compliance.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Develop solutions to complex problems that impact the timely and accurate conduct of clinical research.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, data management requests, manuscripts, and presentations.
  • Prepare and submit Institutional Review Board (IRB) documents (such as informed consent and authorization forms, recruitment materials, data collection instruments/interviews, protocol, and protocol summary).
  • Work with study staff to ensure completeness of database entries.
  • Audit audio recording of study intervention sessions and data collection for accuracy.
  • Schedule study-related meetings and training sessions.
  • Liaison with the clinic staff, study team investigators, and research assistants to determine best recruitment practices and strategies for the study.
  • Work with research team to develop advertising and other materials for recruitment.
  • Oversee study staff conducting participant interviews, assessments, and intervention sessions for data required by protocol.
  • Assess and ensure participant safety throughout participation in the study.
  • Reconcile study budget accounts and maintain fiscal oversight.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in science or a health-related field and two years of clinical research experience; OR associate degree in science or a health-related field and three years of clinical research experience.

Combinations of education and related experience may be considered.

Knowledge of human subject research and the basic principles of accurate ethical data collection. Proficiency using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation programs. Experience with e-mail and electronic calendaring. Basic navigation in web/internet-based applications. Ability to demonstrate judgement, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical Research Certification (ARCP or SOCRA). Master's degree in public health, nursing science, or related field. Knowledge of university systems (time keeping, data extraction, report writing, databases), and of university policies and procedures. Familiarity with medical settings, records and terminology.
