The Eaton-Peabody Lab at Massachusetts Eye and Ear is looking to hire a Research Audiologist to support ongoing research efforts in human subjects with a variety of etiologies including tinnitus and Meniere's disease. The audiologist will be a primary point of contact with our research participants and will also be responsible for data collection, maintaining the research equipment, and research data management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Communicates with potential research participants about the aims and procedures of our studies.
  • Obtains consent from subjects to participate in our research experiments.
  • Assesses hearing health and administers questionnaires to establish their eligibility to participate in our research experiments.
  • Prepares subjects for audiologic, electrophysiologic and psychophysical assessments.
  • Works with Research Fellows and other senior laboratory staff to record and manage data.
  • Participate in data analysis.

    Qualifications
    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    A doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) or its equivalent is required. A Ph.D., prior research experience and/or prior experience working with tinnitus patients are all a plus.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Spends time working in a human research laboratory.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Able to work with human subjects. Able to manipulate fine instruments are required for ear exams and placement of ear-canal electrodes.
