Description of Work:

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte recognizes the differentiation of mission, goals, and objectives inherent in the diversity of disciplines represented by its colleges and departments. Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals.

Teaching - Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching: As the title implies, teaching in clinical environments [e.g., hospitals, clinics] is an essential duty for this position, as is teaching face-to-face, and online through using the current Learning Management System [LMS] or virtual simulation software. Primary teaching responsibilities span graduate and undergraduate programs and may require late afternoon, evening, or weekend classes. Faculty should possess excellent clinical knowledge, skills, and judgment. Moreover, faculty shall be responsible for engaging in curriculum development, developing well-organized, engaging, and relevant course content for multiple methods of delivery that aligns with the AACN Essentials 2021, adheres to North Carolina Board of Nursing [NCBON] requirements, and reflects the mission, vision, and values of the SON, the College of Health and Human Services, and the University. Faculty shall also engage in fair, timely, and equitable grading of student assignments, participate in effective student advising, and mentor students through a variety of existing processes in the SON, CHHS, and University. Must live within driving distance of the campus. Scholarship: Clinical Assistant Professors are required to engage in scholarly activities including publication, local, state, and national presentation, and seeking internal grant funding. Successful candidates will have an identified area of scholarly inquiry that closely aligns with the mission, vision, and values of the SON, CHHS, and University. Service: All faculty, regardless of rank, are expected to be actively engaged in service to the SON, CHHS, the University, community, and/or the nursing profession. Active engagement includes direct service, policy, and governance, community engagement. The service requirement is not met through passive participation of being a member in name only on any committee, or within any organization.

Minimum Experience/Education:

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:

Preferred qualifications include recent clinical experience [3-5] years in primary care, experience working with diverse populations, a background that includes leadership, teaching [academic or hospital-based], simulation experience, a Master's in nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice [DNP] degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and national certification in one or more of the following areas Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner [AGACNP], Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner [PMHNP], Emergency Nurse Practitioner [ENP], Family Nurse Practitioner [FNP], Clinical Nurse Specialist [CNS] or Certified Rural Healthcare Professional [CRHCP].

Necessary Licenses/Certifications:

Unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina either through a single state license, Nurse Licensure Compact [NLC] multistate license or through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact [ENLC]. All APRNs must provide proof of current certification and approval to practice in North Carolina. The successful candidate must adhere to all compliance requirements of the university and health care partners, including vaccinations, if applicable. Must live within driving distance of the campus.
