A leader responsible for providing supervisory needs for the Child Life Department as it pertains to daily operations in relation to clinical assignments and managing Child Life coverage throughout the organization. The Child Life Supervisor will also maintain clinical competency to support the needs of pediatric patients as part of the overall clinical coverage strategy. In addition to clinical care, the Child Life Supervisor is expected to monitor and manage the proficiency of the Child Life team; offering clinical expertise, guidance, and staff development. In collaboration with the Patient and Family Centered Care Program Coordinator, the Child Life Supervisor will be involved in continuous quality improvement, customer service, resource and financial management, efficient and effective system processes and professional development.

  • Provides day-to-day supervisory support and leadership to the Child Life team, ensures clinical coverage, and supports staff to ensure excellence in care
  • Serves as an integral member of the Children's Hospital leadership group
  • Works collaboratively with the Patient and Family Centered Care Program Coordinator to coordinate events and ensure financial stewardship in relationship to the budget
  • Assist Patient and Family Centered Care Program Coordinator in event planning, acceptance of appropriate donations, and in the identification of needs for various patient populations considering developmental stage
  • Provides clinical care supporting daily operations and patient care needs as necessary to ensure adequate Child Life coverage
  • Serves as a professional role model, coach, and resource for employees. Participates in department and organizational workgroups to advance the clinical practice of the Child Life team
  • With supervision from Director, participates in basic human resource functions including but not limited to evaluation of job role functions, provide performance feedback and counseling; and complete the formal performance evaluation annual process
  • Maintains all records pertaining to the staff competency and quality audits and other related records of assigned staff
  • Ensure adequate Child Life coverage in alignment with budget and staffing guidelines
  • Ongoing evaluation of Child Life program development and offerings to patients and families
  • Evaluate team efficiency, maintain records and statistics on children served, perform needs assessment, and identify needs for child life in all areas serving children
  • Collaborates with volunteer services in the onboarding of volunteers, the coordination of play spaces, facilitation of play groups and other volunteer supported programs
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Position Compensation Range: $59,072.00 - $94,515.20 Annual

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Child Life or Child Development related field preferred. Completion of minimum of 480 hour Child Life Internship required.

Experience: Must have 3 years inpatient experience as a Child Life Specialist. Prefer 2 years demonstrated leadership experience.
Licensure: Child Life Professional Certification. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20-50lbs. May be exposed to noise, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
