SUMMARY

Directs safe operation of flight crews by performing the following duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following, but not limited to:

  • Will assist the Vice President of Operations with strategic planning and the continuous improvement of policies and procedures governing flight crews.
  • Will ensure flight crews maintains qualifications, conduct required training and flight crew checks.
  • Will interface with the Director of Training weekly to review the Crewmembers’ Medical Certificates, Passports and Flight Crew Training records report for currency and upcoming training needs.
  • Will be responsible for crew discipline and adherence to all company operation policies and procedures.
  • Will monitor and develop company aircraft and supporting systems operating procedures.
  • Deals professionally with employees, vendors and customers. Respects the confidential nature of the information she/he is sometimes involved with.
  • Ensures that all Company policies and procedures (including Governmental and safety), and departmental Standard Operating Procedures are enforced and adhered to by all personnel.
  • Requested correspondences completed efficiently.
  • Expeditious and accurate completion of requested projects with little or no supervision.
  • Management of specific tasks or projects required to achieve departmental goals.
  • Other duties may be assigned and may be governed as described in the company GOM.
  • Ensures that performance evaluations on all direct reports are completed and returned to Human Resources in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that all data collection is accurate and submitted on a timely basis. Also ensures that all reports are accurate and submitted on a timely basis.
  • Ensures proper training of all personnel according to the program of each position in the department.
  • Maintains proper communication channels with personnel within the department by consistently holding meetings and participating in other meetings as required by superiors.
  • Review and approves departmental expenses and headcount to achieve department objectives regarding proper crewing levels, budget performance planning, and training objectives.

RELATIONSHIPS


  • Liaise with other management personnel, department managers and contract service providers in their area of responsibility.




PERFORMANCE STANDARDS/MEASUREMENTS;



Directly supervises 50 – 250 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. These responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION:

  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (B757/B767 Type Rating)
  • High School diploma
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:


  • Must meet at least the minimum certificates required by Federal Aviation Regulations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:


  • Must meet the requirements of 14 CFR 119.67(b)

  • To serve as Chief Pilot under §119.65(a) a person must hold an airline transport pilot certificate with appropriate ratings for at least one of the airplanes used in the certificate holder's operation and:
  • In the case of a person becoming a Chief Pilot for the first time ever, have at least 3 years experience, within the past 6 years, as pilot in command of a large airplane operated under part 121 or part 135 of this chapter, if the certificate holder operates large airplanes.
  • In the case of a person with previous experience as a Chief Pilot, have at least 3 years experience, as pilot in command of a large airplane operated under part 121 or part 135 of this chapter, if the certificate holder operates large airplanes.
  • Previous Part 121 Chief Pilot or Director of Operations experience preferred.
  • Previous experience leading a work group governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement


SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:


  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Apple products.
