Job Description

This is a remote position; the selected candidate can reside and perform the work from anywhere within the United States.

About the General Motors Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) Team:

General Motors Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) has a strategic initiative to build data as a corporate asset to strengthen its position as a global automotive leader who is transforming to a data driven digital enterprise. The Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) team is one of the cornerstones to achieve this objective. As a leader of the CDAO Data Enablement team you will play a significant role in helping GM create and maintain data platforms and deliver to the platform needs of internal and external customers.

GM is seeking an individual who will leverage their industry knowledge and experiences to design, architect, deploy, and manage this data platform. Are you someone who can discover, demystify, organize, interpret, validate and distribute vast and various forms of data? Do you see yourself as a bridge between the business, data engineering and data science? If so, we may have the role you are looking for.

This individual will also own UAT within the data space and have responsibility for sign-off on all production data sets (internal & external). They will accomplish these goals through effective collaboration with architects, engineers, data scientists and product managers. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the information delivery lead and subject matter expert in lineage and provenance for all relevant data products , platform and production data assets
  • Accountable for planning /coordination and oversight over end to end quality, testing and certification process, engaging with infrastructure, architecture, information security and project delivery teams as needed
  • Understand program objectives and ensure key technology decisions are aligned with these objectives
  • Interface with business leadership to articulate business impact of data/technology challenges /decisions and facilitate decision making
  • Point of contact for external data and exploratory data analysis
  • Engages with strategic initiatives and planning activities to identify opportunities to leverage data platform capabilities for the business
  • Create and analyze relevant information and develop logic/governance/technology recommendations that are presented to senior management and business stakeholders
  • Identify, screen, and evaluate new data capability opportunities to address unmet internal and external customer needs
  • Act as key liaison across all functional areas, including business units, the IT department, and outside vendors
  • Manage stakeholder expectations across the enterprise

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant business/industry work experience, with at least 4 years of proven leadership experience and 5 years developing and executing large strategic data programs and/or project portfolios
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in computer science, business administration, or other related field
  • Enterprise Systems thinking & broad understanding of data technologies
  • Proven expert in data quality and/or data governance systems design and implementation
  • Strategic thinking and planning - Proactive and anticipatory in their thinking
  • Implementation experience on large data/digital transformation programs in a public/private cloud ecosystem, with a focus on data-lake and data warehouses
  • Experience with vehicle telematics, mobile and/or IOT telemetry streams and data types
  • Experience managing technology implementation projects using the Agile/hybrid agile methodologies in large organizations
  • Experience working in insurance or financial services organizations is a bonus
  • An ability to effectively communicate complex information clearly and concisely with both business and technical teams
  • Agile and able to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience gathering business requirements, using industry standard business intelligence tools to extract data, formulate metrics, and build reports
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize and work to tight deadlines
  • Able to simplify and improve inefficient or unnecessarily complex processes

Compensation: The median level of salary compensation for this role is $134,326.00

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
