Responsibilities:

GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe Career Services Success Coach is responsible for building and maintaining a pool of business and industry partners to support internship and apprenticeship opportunities for LSCO students. The Career Services Success Coach will advise and coordinate application and placement opportunities for students and recent graduates. The Career Services Success Coach will manage the caseload of students to effectively communicate with faculty, staff, and student support services while providing forward-facing, wrap-around services to advance student success at Lamar State College Orange. The Career Services Success Coach will track student progress and performance while in the internship and apprenticeship programs, and offer interventions, when necessary, to maximize successful program completion as well as transition into employment beyond graduation.

Duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
Accreditation:1. Interface with the Department of Institutional Effectiveness and other federal and state agencies to ensure the college's job placement rates are up-to-date and accurate.2. Uphold and agree to comply with all federal, state, and local requirements pertaining to the security, confidentiality, and privacy of information maintained by the institution, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Administration:1. Collaborate with program directors and employers to establish program-level internships or apprenticeships creating a database of available opportunities for students.2. Ensure excellent communication and regular updates about the internship and apprenticeship programs and students participating to the program directors, faculty, staff, and community supporters.3. Provide administrative support for organized internships and community partners, including Advisory Committees.
Budget:1. Assist in the preparation and management of the program budget to ensure the best use of available resources in pursuit of the divisional goals.2. Recommend budget requests for materials, supplies, facilities, and capital outlay to support the division.Outreach:1. Serve as a liaison for faculty with business and industry to arrange out-of-classroom experiences, service learning projects, and mentor/mentee opportunities2. Assist with community engagement events related to all LSCO programs, including presenting at information/recruiting sessions.3. Participate in community service activities and organizations.
Student Support:1. Assist students seeking admission consideration for internship and apprenticeship programs with pre-enrollment activities, including Financial Aid, transcript requests, admission applications, program applications, course selections, etc.2. Track individual progress and proactively provide interventions to support student success through intrusive advising techniques that establish firm expectations for follow-through by students.3. Educate students about resume building, interview process, job expectations, and professionalism, prioritizing support to students enrolled in organized internship and apprenticeship programs.4. Work with students to develop an action plan identifying their goals, desired outcomes, and steps necessary to meet these goals.5. Provide job placement assistance to students and career guidance to recent graduates and alumni through job fairs, career programs, and other student activities, including seminars/workshops on interview skills and job search strategies.6. Make appropriate referrals, as needed, to other college departments and community-based organizations that support student obstacles beyond academic challenges.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS1. Serve on college task forces, committees, and councils as required.2. Assist in the day-to-day operations within the division providing support for the Dean of Academic, Technical, and Workforce Programs.3. Offer exceptional customer service in a student-centered, professional environment at all times.4. Evenings and weekends may be required.5. Other duties as assigned.6. Attend ceremonial and student activities.7. Engage in professional development activities, give presentations, and participate in panel discussions.8. Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTSEducation
Requires a minimum of an Associate degree from an accredited college; bachelor degree from a regionally accredited college or university is preferred.Experience
Three years of work experience in career services or workforce placement in either the private sector, with a state agency, or higher education.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Above average skills in the utilization of computer systems, Banner, Argos, and Microsoft Office applications and experience in recruitment and career interest assessment/advising. Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, priorities, budgets, and personalities; maintain a high profile in community activities.Physical Requirements
Normal ambulatory requirement; extreme cognitive skills required; advanced speech-communication required; advanced written communication required; acute visual requirements; normal or corrected hearing required; and frequent travel. Requires constant sitting, walking, and seeing. Requires frequent standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 25 pounds; operating a calculator, personal computer, and various office equipment. Requires infrequent stooping, bending, sorting and filing.WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment.
