Business Development Manager - Center for Industrial Services (CIS)Regular, Full-time, Market Range 16Work Location: Nashville or KnoxvilleThe purpose of this position is to provide leadership and support for CIS business development activities targeting Tennessee manufacturers and CIS partners.Duties and Responsibilities:Leadership:

    Leadership responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies to improve business development practices, support program marketing efforts, and achieve results; leading agency outreach efforts to connect potential and existing manufacturing customers with the full range of CIS services; working with CIS staff and partners to identify and meet manufacturer needs; strengthening manufacturer and partner engagement; and participating in regional, state, university and national activities to advance manufacturing and related economic development initiatives.
Supervision:
    With the guidance and support of the TMEP director, the position supervises a team of eight solution consultants, each which has business development responsibilities in a particular Tennessee region. This includes developing and implementing business development practices, procedures and metrics for the solution consultant team and individual team members; developing and coordinating training programs to continually improve solution consultant technical expertise and business development skills; ensuring proper utilization of CIS customer management tools to identify and manage customers; provide individual coaching as needed to improve individual performance; and ensuring proactive and effective customer and project management practices.
Support:
    The position provides support, planning and implementation assistance to the TMEP director, CIS executive director, resource manager and other CIS staff in developing, implementing and improving CIS marketing practices, resource management practices, programs and products. Administrative responsibilities include working with the TMEP director and resource manager to develop and manage business development budgets, develop team and individual goals, make staffing decisions, conduct performance reviews, prepare and submit monthly and quarterly reports, and perform other administrative duties as needed.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Education:   This position requires a Masters Degree in Engineering, Business, or related field of study.Experience:     The position requires a minimum of six years of business development, industrial sales, and supervisory experience in manufacturing, manufacturing extension, or economic development. Experience in developing business with manufacturers and pricing services resulting in projects with demonstrated economic impacts and revenue generation. Documented history of positive working relationships and outreach activities with co-workers, partners, prospects and clients. Skills:   
    This position requires broad knowledge of manufacturing, including manufacturing operations, processes, and challenges; business development skills and ability to cultivate relationships with manufacturers that produce economic impacts and revenue generation; supervisory skills, including coaching skills; collaboration and communication skills; and basic computer skills.The ability to develop and deploy inbound marketing strategies to initiate client interest is preferred. This includes the ability to develop success stories and utilize social media promote services and  share the story of the CIS customer's journey.
