Business Architect (Hybrid)

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the Business Architecture team within Globe Life you will be a key player in helping business leaders bridge the gap between strategy and execution. You will be responsible for the development and execution of the business architecture process evaluating business needs in the context of current state assessments, actionable capabilities of the organization, and future state initiatives that deliver value related to Globe Life corporate strategies.

This includes directly supporting and enabling those strategies by developing and maintaining a deep understanding of the core business capabilities, value streams, organization, and information for one or more portfolio categories. As that knowledge and understanding are developed they will be applied to our Business Architecture knowledgebase creating the blueprints needed to better enable delivery of the company's strategic goals.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the development of the Business Architecture knowledgebase for a major lifecycle of the company
• Anticipate emerging business trends and regulatory/risk issues as a basis for recommending large-scale product, technical, functional or operations improvements
• Partner with business leadership to understand current and emerging business priorities, frame them in terms of business capabilities and help contextualize proposed initiatives in broader terms, aligning to company strategy
• Understand key processes, stakeholders and outcomes of assigned business areas, as well as strategic drivers, regulatory context, relevant industry developments, business dependencies and connections to other areas of the company
• Contribute to the continued growth in understanding and application of business architecture practices, processes and tools throughout Globe Life
• Accountable for crafting, maintaining and ensuring usage of business deliverables including, but not limited to, capability maps, value streams and information maps
• Actively work with Enterprise and Solution architects to align technical solutions with business strategies
• Work with the Enterprise Transformation (ET) and Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) functions to frame proposed initiatives for review by the steering committee

Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
• Strong strategic thinking, including abstract reasoning, complex problem solving, and critical thinking skills
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; highly collaborative working style, strong interpersonal and relationship building capabilities; proven ability to manage diverse client and stakeholder relationships, and to collaborate effectively with customers and colleagues.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively at different levels of the organization, strong ability to evangelize best practices within and among teams
• Intermediate level proficiency in MS Project, Word, Visio, Excel

Required Knowledge & Experience

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Bachelor degree or equivalent experience required
• 8 to 10 years working in the insurance industry with knowledge of Leads, Agent, and/or Policy lifecycle
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience on large cross-functional or enterprise-wide initiatives
• 1 to 2 years of experience with business architecture design and implementation
• As a specialized role, a certification in Business Architecture from the Business Architecture Guild is preferred, other certifications and work experience may be considered
