Get to Know This Role

This position is responsible for assuring proper equipment specifications, design, installation, and repair for process electrical/control equipment according to Sierra Nevada Brewing Company (SNBC) standards and reliability best practices. The Brewery Electrical Controls Engineer will work closely with the other Engineering and Brewery team members to complete capital projects related to continuous improvement, expansion, and safety. Additionally, this role will provide technical and reliability expertise for SNBC by managing asset reliability risks that could adversely affect the plant or business operations. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this role drives continuous improvement for long-term productivity gains, cost reduction, and waste elimination.

What You Will Do

  • Identifies, develops, design, and integrates improvement projects, optimizations, process changes, and new technologies to achieve increased productivity, improved quality, safer operations, and increased capacity
  • Provides electrical and controls support for capital projects, manages projects as assigned, and provides field oversight of outside contractors performing work at SNB or in off-site shops
  • Provides process and automation support to the Brewery to ensure all aspects of production are operating correctly
  • Develops engineering solutions for capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues that adversely affect plant operations
  • Collaborates with maintenance personnel on the calibration, maintenance, and upgrade/replacement activities for equipment and instrumentation
  • Develops electrical engineering standards and guidelines for the Brewery and provides leadership for the Electrical Safe Work Program in Compliance with NFPA 70E.
  • Provides guidance and training as appropriate to promote proper operation and maintenance of equipment, instruments, and control systems
  • Works with safety as a core value, looks for opportunities to build safety consciousness and promote safe work practices, models the proactive behavior of providing input on safety issues and supports the Hidden Danger Program
  • Uses expertise to makes decisions and recommendations that have an important impact on department and organizational goals and activities
  • Collaborates with other brewery departments and industry groups to test/set-up, execute, and present on brewery related topics; contributes to the brewing community at large

Please Apply if You Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or any combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved required and
  • Brewing Degree or Certification preferred

  • 5 years Manufacturing experience required
  • Electrical and/or automation engineering background required and
  • Experience within a brewery preferred and
  • Experience with design, build, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting equipment and processes preferred and
  • Project management experience preferred

  • Ability to recognize and clearly report information
  • Solid knowledge of brewing concepts, principles, processes, and theories
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCad
  • Working knowledge of Siemens and Rockwell platforms along with ProLeit/Brewmaxx
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with and guide others
  • Working knowledge of PLC programming concepts, computer network technology, servers, and databases
  • Ability to be self-motivated and motivate others to persist in times of challenge or uncertainty
  • Working knowledge of industrial power and electrical system infrastructure
