Summary:
Performs whole blood product collection procedures via venipuncture of autologous and allogeneic donors; performs apheresis blood product collection procedures on allogeneic donors utilizing varying manufacturer lines of apheresis technology including procedure set up and break down; monitors the donor throughout the collection procedure; documents donor medical history; documents the product collection procedure within information systems and donor charts; performs daily quality control and maintenance of equipment devices; tracks and logs consumables and reagents utilized in the collection procedure appropriately; performs donor appointment scheduling, pre-screens and registration activities; prepares blood products for transport to the processing facility.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience

1. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience as a Phlebotomist I at Roswell Park and successful completion of the Roswell Park Blood Product Collection Specialist Traineeship as governed by state regulation; or
2. Equivalent phlebotomy and/or blood product collection experience gained at comparable institutions approved by Roswell Park may be substituted for the above experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
