The Biology Lab Technician is responsible to the Biology Lab Coordinator (BLC) and the Assistant Dean for Visual and Performing Arts, Education, and Sciences. The position is to assist in the preparation and maintenance of biology laboratory exercises and equipment.

Assist the Biology Lab Coordinator in the maintenance of lab equipment.

Organize and inventory equipment and lab materials.

Set-up and take down individual laboratory exercises.

Prepare equipment and materials for individual classes.

Prepare media and solutions for use in individual classes.

Sanitize laboratories and prep areas.

Store equipment and materials properly.

Assist in the preservation of the college's cadavers.

Utilize aseptic techniques and maintain bacterial cultures.

Follow proper safety protocols which includes, but not limited to the proper disposal of biohazard and/or chemical waste and wearing personal protective equipment.

Assist in emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Successful completion of at least one year of college biology lab courses required.

Ability to work independently and follow directions, written and oral.

Excellent organizational skills.

Availability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend hours.

Personal transportation to travel between campuses as needed.

Basic computer skills and familiarity with Google Drive and Microsoft Office.

Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
