POSITION SUMMARY

The Behavior Consultant in collaboration with other members of the treatment team, designs and directs the implementation of a treatment plan which is individualized to each child or adolescent and to family needs. The Behavior Consultant identifies behavioral goals and intervention techniques and recommends non-aversive behavioral change methods. In group services, Behavior consultants complete the same duties, while also supporting the presentation of curriculum and implementing treatment interventions.

The Behavior Consultant typically serves as consultant to other members of the treatment team. While maintaining some direct contact with child and family, the BC primarily provides assessment, treatment plan development and revision program design and monitoring, rather than direct therapy. The BC is expected to participate in team meetings. When questions or conflict around behavioral paradigms arise in other systems, such as school, (e.g., a review of a behavior paradigm to help the child remain in school), the BC may participate as a consultant in a special child-centered, family focused meetings along with other team members. Behavior Consultants may provide individual and/or group clinical supervision to BHTs. In a group service, Behavior Consultants support group programming and supervise BHTs in the group setting.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Completes assessments to determine strengths, needs, and level of service.

Develops tools and therapeutic materials, collects data, operationally defines target and problem behaviors, and develops observable and measurable goals.

Develops individualized treatment plans (and addendum's when necessary) and monitors the implementation of the plan, as well as progress towards goals

Maintains progress notes for every contact and submits payroll within the most current pay period. Completes concurrent reviews as required.

Provides clinical consultation to the Behavioral Health Technicians and ensures appropriate implementation of the treatment plan.

Meets with the child, family, local Case Manager, teachers and other treatment team

Oversees termination of services in collaboration with treatment team and provides a discharge summary.

Provides individual, group and/or on-site clinical supervision to Behavioral Health Technician as per regulations and as needed.

Attends training as required by the IBHS regulations and Merakey

Attends supervision as required by the IBHS regulations and Merakey

In group settings, supports delivery of curriculum, implements treatment interventions, and provides ongoing support to Behavioral Health Technicians

May perform other related duties as required or assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

License in PA as a psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, clinical social worker, social worker behavior specialist, or certified registered nurse AND one of the following:

o Certification as a BCaBA

OR

o Minimum of 1-year full-time experience providing ABA services and a minimum of 12 credits in ABA from an accredited college or university

OR

o Minimum of 1-year full-time experience providing ABA services under the supervision or a professional with a certification as a BCBA AND a minimum of 40 hours of training related to ABA approved by the Department of Human Service or the BACB

OR

- License in PA as a psychologist and have a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience providing ABA services AND a minimum of 40 hours of training related to ABA approved by the Department of Human Services or the BACB
