  • 40-hour per-week schedule. Exempt, salaried position.
  • Partial hybrid work options may be considered with a majority of the week on campus.
  • Weekend availability for occasional events.
  • Some travel required.
Basic Function:

The Associate Director of Advancement Events is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination and execution of a wide range of events and activities at Denison University. This position requires collaboration with AFE, Advancement colleagues and the President's Office, particularly for high-profile events. This role involves direct engagement with prominent friends of the college, ensuring successful event execution in alignment with the university's goals. The associate director will work closely with the senior associate director and other team members to deliver high-quality events that meet the college's strategic priorities and engagement plans.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Works closely with the senior associate director to develop and implement comprehensive event plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for Advancement events and large-scale campus events.
  • Oversee event logistics, including registration, managing invitation lists, coordination of vendors, staffing, and breakdown, and coordination with the communications team.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to understand their event objectives and requirements. Gather feedback from attendees and team members to assess event success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage university expectations for lodging and event needs at the Granville Inn over signature weekends and Board of Trustee events.
  • Lead planning and execution of details for summer Presidential receptions.
  • Ensure that all event details, from catering to technical requirements, are meticulously organized and executed.
  • Manage event guest lists and work orders for large scale campus events.
  • Assist with other Advancement and AFE Events team projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in event management, hospitality management, or related field
  • Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in event management software, NXT, and Google Suite. Ability to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends, as required for event coverage.
  • Relevant experience can be substituted for education. 4-7 year proven experience in event planning and operations, preferably in an educational or similar institution.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in event management, hospitality management, or related field
  • A passion for building and nurturing relationships with donors, alumni, and volunteers.

Physical Demands:

Position requires walking, climbing stairs and ability to move up to 20 lbs using appropriate equipment or assistance as needed.
