SUMMARY:

The Associate Dean for Admissions provides leadership and strategic direction for a team whose mission is to attract and enroll the most talented, motivated, and diverse student body possible. Reporting directly to the Law School Dean, the Associate Dean of Admissions is a key member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for administering a comprehensive admissions program for a law school known for its commitment to a student-centered approach to legal education. Key components of the position include annual enrollment forecasting, scholarship and pricing strategies, admissions marketing and recruitment, and the evaluation of applications. In addition, the Associate Dean serves as an ambassador for the Law School, embodying its values and communicating them to others.

Strategic Planning

  • Partners with the Dean, faculty, and other senior leadership to devise a strategic plan for all aspects of admissions including financial aid and develop strategies for effectuating its goals.
  • Designs and implements short-term and long-term marketing and recruiting strategies to enhance the quality and diversity of the Law School class.
  • Analyzes data to determine the most effective recruiting and financial strategies to optimize enrollments.
  • Works with the Law School Director of Communications to develop strategies and materials for admissions marketing, including print, digital, and social media.
  • Collaborates with the Career Development Office, the Associate Dean for Academics, the Associate Dean of Strategic Initiatives, and the academic support faculty to assess predictors of law school success that may inform future admissions decisions.
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging on strategies and programs to recruit and matriculate a diverse class.
Recruitment
  • Plans and implements recruitment programs both on and off campus, and represents the Law School at forums, fairs, and individual speaking events.
  • Interacts personally with prospective students, providing advice and guidance and serving as an ambassador for the Law School.
  • Designs and implements outreach and events designed to increase yield of admitted students.
  • Builds relationships with prelaw advisors at feeder schools.
  • Partners with faculty, students and alumni to assist in recruitment efforts.
Admissions process and decisions
  • Supervises the admissions process for entering JD, transfer, LLM, International 2 year, and visiting students.
  • Makes individual admissions decisions and works collaboratively with the Admissions Committees as an ex officio member.
  • Maintains a high level of expertise in the use of ACES2/Unite, Slate, and campus data systems.
  • Collaborates with the University's Office of International Education to assure that all necessary processes are followed for international JD students.
Office budgets and management
  • Leads the staff of the Office of Admissions to create a strong, cohesive, and effective team.
  • Provides necessary mentoring and/or training to assure that all team members reach their full potential.
  • Develops and oversees the budget of the Office of Admissions.
Other
  • Stays abreast of developments in law school admissions nationwide to assure compliance with best practices and the standards set forth by the Law School Admissions Council and the American Bar Association.
  • Collaborates with the Law School Applied Linguistics Specialist to work with all international students.
  • Works with other Law School personnel to identify and proactively support students of concern.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • B.A. or equivalent required; JD strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in law school admissions or enrollment management required; at least three years' experience in a managerial or supervisory role strongly preferred
WORK HOURS:
  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week; some evenings and weekends
SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 10 (Hiring Range $86,154.00 to $118,456.00 annually)
