Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

In addition to research and teaching in Philosophy, the occupant of the position will be expected to take an active role in the development of the department's Medical Humanities program and possibly in a University initiative in Brain Health. The teaching load is generally 3-2.

Required Qualifications:

Required qualifications include a PhD in Philosophy with a specialization in Philosophy of Mind and Cognitive Science, particularly Philosophy of Neuroscience, or Bioethics, especially Neuroethics.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include considerable teaching experience and an interest in teaching or developing courses in a broad range of philosophical and medical humanities subdisciplines.

Department Information:

The Department of Philosophy and Humanities at UTA offers a B.A. major in Philosophy, B.A. minors in Classical Studies, Philosophy, and Medical Humanities, as well as language instruction in Greek and Latin and certificates in Ethics and Medical Humanities. The department includes scholars of national and international reputation. Areas of specialization range across Philosophy and Classics and represent a variety of methodological approaches. The department is large enough to offer a full range of courses and small enough that every major can receive individual attention.
