Assistant or Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering:

The Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Nuclear Engineering (MANE) at RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE in Troy, NY, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Mechanical Engineering. We welcome candidates that will bring additional dimensions to MANE's research and teaching mission. We are especially interested in applicants working in the area of robotics.

MANE strives to be a welcoming and inclusive community in which all members - faculty, students, and staff - feel a sense of belonging and can thrive in their roles. We value diversity, which broadens our perspectives and enriches our research and teaching activities. Applications will be considered at the Assistant or early Associate Professor levels.

Candidates must possess an earned Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate the potential to carry out the following duties: develop and maintain an internationally recognized, interdisciplinary program of funded research in Mechanical Engineering, to actively contribute to the core graduate and undergraduate teaching mission of MANE, and engage in department, institute, and professional service activities.

This is an exciting time to be a part of MANE and Rensselaer. MANE is undergoing unprecedented growth across all three disciplines with a dynamic cadre of recent faculty hires. Faculty have access to world-class research facilities and an atmosphere that promotes interdisciplinary collaborations. Our research addresses some of the world's most pressing technological challenges-from energy and sustainable development to materials, manufacturing, controls, adaptive and resilient systems, biotechnology, and human health. Approximately 1,300 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students are currently enrolled in MANE.

Founded in 1824, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is America's first technological research university and is approaching its bicentennial. Nestled on a beautiful 275-acre campus in upstate NY, Rensselaer is home to five schools, more than 140 academic programs, over 30 research centers, three makerspaces, and one of the world's fastest supercomputers. Rensselaer faculty and alumni include upwards of 155 National Academy members, six members of the National Inventors Hall of Fame, six National Medal of Technology winners, five National Medal of Science winners, and a Nobel Prize winner in Physics. With 200 years of experience advancing scientific and technological knowledge, Rensselaer remains focused on addressing global challenges with a spirit of ingenuity and collaboration.

Application Instructions: Please submit the following materials via Rensselaer's online hiring portal (https://careers.rpi.edu/cw/en-us/job/494190/): (1) a cover letter, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) a research statement including future research plans, (3) a statement of teaching activities and interests, (4) a diversity statement, and (5) contact information for a minimum of four professional references.
