Job Description
We are looking for an individual with infrastructure and network experience with a focus on the network. For the infrastructure, they would be involved in the administration of our firewalls, Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services, wireless and switching administration, as well as, server maintenance both onsite and in the cloud. As part of the server maintenance they will assist in supporting our central data storage repositories through virtualization and backups using Veeam. This individual will work with an experienced team and will help to provide redundancy while also contributing to the implementation of new technologies, troubleshooting issues and ensuring the continuation of our stable environment.

Primary Position Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure
  • Shares in administration of Cisco and Fortinet firewalls.
  • Participates in the maintenance of central data storage (Netapp, Synology, AWS S3) in support of essential enterprise services (e.g., virtualization, backups (Veeam), etc.)
  • Shares in administration of Google Cloud Services and Amazon Web Services
  • Shares in administration of servers both onsite and in the cloud.
  • Assists in supporting department servers that contain institutional data (e.g., faculty research, Campus Police, Facilities, etc.)
Performance Profile:
  • All central systems and networks are stable, reliable and secure. Central systems have documented, tested and functioning backup procedures.
  • Members of the Wellesley community have confidence in and are satisfied with the centrally-supported services because of their functionality and reliability.
  • Primary systems are upgraded with minimal interruption of service and always with prior notification.
  • T echnology solutions, improvements and additions are investigated and implemented in a timely manner and are responsive to the needs of the College community.
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience, preferably in an information technology related field.
Experience Required:
  • 3-5+ years experience in Cisco networking required.
  • 2+ years VMware VSphere administration required.
  • 1+ years experience AWS/GCS, preferred.
  • Basic Linux and Windows server administration as need to support primary job duties
Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Fortinet and Cisco firewall, wireless and switching administration.
  • Strong understanding of network concepts and protocols e.g., Cisco IOS, BGP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, IP routing.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies and management tools. Experience with VMware vSphere preferred.
  • Knowledge of enterprise backup methodologies.
  • Familiarity with the command line for system and network-based troubleshooting.
  • Scripting experience (Bash, Perl, PowerShell) is a plus.
  • Experience leading small to medium sized technical investigations and relevant research skills.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Other:
Due to the nature of supporting essential services, regular on-call and remote support is an expectation of all members of the Systems and Networks team.
