Basic Function:

Evaluates documentation and determines reasonable accommdations for students with disabilities, conducts intake interviews and makes notes in case file using Accommodate software, reviews and creates relevant policies and procedures related to accessibility/access. manages case load of students on Academic Warning, represent ARC at campus events and collaborates with other campus partners.

Essential Job Functions:

Evaluates and interprets disability documentation for eligibility determination and coordinates services for students with disabilities (approximately 100+ applications per academic year) Maintain an electronic records track trend, and generate reports. Implements reasonable accommodations consistent with current law, identifies best practices within the field and maintains confidentiality of records.
Meets individually with students to discuss current accommodations, assesses need for reevaluation of accommodations, fosters student self-advocacy, and improves communication with instructors/staff throughout their academic enrollment. Also maintains a small caseload of students in the Back on Track program.



Develops and implements policies and procedures for providing individualized accommodations and equal access for students in accordance with legal requirements. Consults as needed with in-house legal counsel.
Oversees coordination and execution of accommodations such as note taking, alternative academic material formats and texts,assistive technology, etc. and works closely with Assistant for Administrative Processes to manage ARC Testing Spaces
Maintains close communication with Residential Communities & Housing, Facility Services and other campus partners regarding the provision of housing accommodations and campus accessibility, respectively. With the Director of Academic Resource Center, serves as a liaison to the faculty and campus community on issues related to a range of disabilities, classroom/curriculum, training and advising.
Communicate effectively with ARC staff and need to know parties regarding student status and progress, Contributes to staff meetings, events, data collection, assessment and report writing.



Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's Degree

Minimum: At least one year of experience working with students in higher education; experience in special education is also a plus.
● Must have strong and broad computer skills (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, and web).
● Background knowledge in Accommodate and Banner preferred.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.● Ability to respond to common inquiries from students, regulatory agencies, or members of the College community.
● Ability to write reports
● Ability to effectively present information to top administration and/or respected constituents including parents/family members

Preferred Qualifications:


Preferred: Master's
Preferred: Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Relevant experience in accessibility/disability in higher education can be substituted for education.

Physical Demands:
