Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Serves as manager of the University Faculty Council and all of its standing and ad hoc committees and task forces; researches and reports on issues related to the work of the Councils.
  • Works with officers and committee chairpersons to set meeting agendas; attends committee meetings in ex-officio status; ensures effective communication between committees, faculty at-large, administrators, and external bodies.
  • Orients new officers, chairpersons and members to functions and activities of the Councils; monitors and facilitates work of UFC committees (e.g., completion of committee reports and their submission to the UFC); ensures that UFC officers, committee chairs, and campus administrators are aware of major proposals and initiatives in progress.
  • Organizes and conducts the UFC orientation every fall.
  • Manages BFC elections and recruits committee chairs; provides continuity and historical recordkeeping of the BFC.
  • Manages Nominations Committee and recruits committee chairs.
  • Works under the guidance of the Director of Faculty Council Offices in conducting research and preparing reports related to institutional policies and procedures; assists Director in orienting new committee chairs and UFC officers.
General Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with team members to develop program objectives and create policies to meet them. Coordinates program operation with all collaborative units.
  • Monitors progress and maintains all necessary data bases.
  • Actively recruits program participants and researches new venues and methods of recruitment.
  • May provide guidance to support and temporary staff and coordinates workflow for the program.
  • Researches available grants and assists creating funding proposals that further advance support of the program. Writes grant reports.
  • Administers program budgets.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree
Preferred
  • Master's degree and doctoral degree training
  • Training in higher education policy and leadership
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 2 years in related field
Preferred
  • 3 years of experience in higher education administration
  • Significant experience involving research and written reporting responsibilities
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered

LICENSES AND CERTFICATES

Preferred
  • Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.

  • The incumbent must be comfortable working with faculty, staff, students, and external audiences, including dignitaries. The position requires sensitivity, discretion, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality due to the sensitive academic, financial, and personnel issues involved.
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with WCMS and Salesforce is a plus

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
