UChicago HELP is a collaborative program within Campus and Student Life made up of a robust set of systems and practices that support and care for our students. UChicago HELP assists students in navigating academic and personal difficulties.

UChicago HELP is seeking two full-time Assistant Deans of Students in the University & Assistant Directors, Student Case Management (ADSCM). The ADSCMs will report to the Associate Dean of Students in the University for Student Affairs/Director, UChicago HELP with a dotted line to the Dean of Students in the University. One ADSCM will work exclusively with undergraduate students living in on-campus housing. The other ADSCM will work with all undergraduate students and provide some consultation with area deans of students for graduate and professional students. The ADSCMs are non-clinical providers and will be available to help students.

Responsibilities

  • Arranging appropriate medical or mental health care (in consultation and coordination with Student Wellness providers).
  • Identifying and accessing appropriate short- and longer-term support resources on campus and in the broader community.
  • Following University expectations with respect to behavior and/or compliance with treatment plans.
  • Assessing risk of harm to self and to others.
  • Monitoring progress toward achieving goals around healthy living, physical and mental health, finances and personal relationships.
  • Achieving self-advocacy so they can manage academic, personal and financial responsibilities independently.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Desired qualifications include a Master's degree in education, counseling, social work, public health or related field plus at least five years of experience in education or closely related setting with a demonstrated knowledge of case management systems and experience managing response to crisis situations.
