Description:

Under the direction of the BHS Patient Services Manager, collaborates with all MacNeal customers (internal/external) in an effort to meet the needs of person(s) seeking Behavioral Health Services. While primarily positioned in the emergency department of MacNeal Hospital, employee will complete initial clinical assessments to determine appropriate level of Behavioral Health Care.
Employee will utilize resources to assure referrals are made based on clinical needs of the client, taking into consideration their cultural, ethnic, demographic,
financial and socio-economic influences. Employee will provide patient care and intervention as requested to ED clients presenting with problem(s) related to domestic violence, sexual abuse, child or elder abuse as well as other self-care issues. As indicated, facilitates the admission process to BHS units and programs, assures accurate registration, and completes insurance verification and pre-certification.

Develops positive relationships with all internal and external customers to insure future referrals to MacNeal and BHS.

Interpersonal skills necessary to maintain a professional demeanor in emotionally challenging and stressful situations that may include physically volatile occurrences.

Analytical skills required to prioritize and intervene in an environment that has a rapidly fluctuating work volume.

Empathic approach to providing crisis intervention with an ability to establish appropriate limits while providing quality care.

Above average written and verbal communications skills needed to ensure for comprehensive and accurate documentation.

Hours: 11am- 11:30pm

One 8 hour weekend shift per pay period.

Holiday rotation also required.
