Position Summary

This position supports the administrative and operational needs of the department by working closely with key clinical and other administrative personnel and represents the department in a professional and welcoming manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's mission and MFA's iCare values and incorporates them into the performance of duties.
  • Facilitates the timely completion of administrative requests from the Practice via tasks in EMR (EPIC). 1 week for Routine Tasks same day turnaround for Urgent Tasks.
  • Works with patients on select appointment, surgical and procedure scheduling needs; demonstrates caring and compassionate attitude in accordance with MFA's iCare values.
  • Performs administrative duties to assist in operational efficiency of department, such as filing, labeling, sorting incoming and outgoing mail, printing and checking physician calendars and schedules.
  • When obtaining documents, verifies patient demographics, financial and insurance information using EMR system.
  • Greets patients and other providers in a pleasant and professional manner and directs to the proper individual. Screens telephone callers in pleasant and a professional manner; handles call, takes message or directs caller to appropriate person or area.
  • Maintains cooperative and professional relationships with physicians, nurses and office and clinical staff.
  • Handles stressful situations with little or no supervision; functions as a respectful member of the health care team.
  • Supports department by working on special projects to assist in operational initiatives as directed by Supervisor and departmental leadership.
  • Deals professionally and discreetly with sensitive, confidential information concerning hospital affairs, patient health information, meeting minutes, letters and other documents.
  • Ability to schedule meetings, take notes and track action items and make edits and distribute as necessary.
  • Demonstrates effective and appropriate communication with physicians, Department Managers, other employees, patients and visitors.
  • Coordinates and responsive to other duties and tasks with other MFA departments and affiliated groups, such as SAVISTA, Contact Center, Referral Management, Patient Experience, Credentialing, etc.
Qualifications
Education
  • A high school diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology
Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of administrative experience in a fast-paced healthcare setting
  • Proven typing skills of 50 words per minute (wpm) or better
