Job Description: The Health Science Core Program is seeking adjunct faculty to join the Department. Instruction of students in the undergraduate Health Science Core classes, which may include: Medical Terminology, Pharmacology, Legal and Ethical Issues for Health Care, Introduction to Health care, Health Technology and Informatics.

Teaches courses in accordance with their description. Teaches Medical Terminology with an approach that focuses on medical word comprehension within the context of clinical care, and the understanding of medical word part meanings. Teaches students how various prefixes, roots, and suffixes form distinct meanings in medical language. The ideal candidate will have an attention to detail that includes the ability to critically analyze students use of medical words within a clinical context, and apply correct spelling and grammar. The successful candidate will also demonstrate to ability to apply creative ways to learn terminology in the classroom.

Adheres to course objectives and outcomes. Utilizes the full classroom time assigned, meeting all classes as scheduled.

The Medical Terminology faculty must direct student learning and assess student progress in achieving the requirements of the program.

If the course is an online course, the adjunct faculty will be required to take a course at Harper College for online teaching prior to teaching the course.

Responsible for timely submission of attendance, grading records, and filing course syllabi with the Division.

Education Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor's Degree in allied health, nursing or health science.

Master's Degree in nursing, allied health, health science, or related field preferred.

Current licensure, registration or certification in their field required.

Experience Requirements: At least two years of teaching experience preferred; two or more years working in a clinical setting.
