Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm (flex schedule available, which includes onsite and remote)
JOB SUMMARY
Their primary purpose of this position is to provide personalized support and assistance to students in navigating academic requirements and addressing any challenges they may encounter along the way. The Academic Advisor helps students select appropriate courses, develop academic plans, and help them to make informed decisions. They also offer guidance on academic policies, procedures, and resources available to enhance students' learning experiences. The Academic Advisor coordinates the assessment activities of our Graduate Programs in Business. They collaborate with faculty, administrators, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, provide data-driven insights for program improvement, and foster a culture of continuous assessment and enhancement. Overall, the Academic Advisor strives to empower students to achieve their academic and professional aspirations by offering individualized guidance and support tailored to their unique needs and circumstances.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
- Provide comprehensive academic advising and support to students.
- Serve as the point of contact for all GPB students.
- Gather data from various sources, including student performance, course evaluations, and stakeholder feedback, to help identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with the GPB Program Director, various departments, and program administrators to integrate assessment practices into curriculum design, instructional delivery, and program evaluation processes.
- Assist in preparing accreditation reports and documentation by providing evidence of student learning outcomes assessment, program effectiveness, and compliance with accreditation standards.
- Interpret and explain university policies, procedures, and academic requirements to students, and report infractions to the GPB Program Director
- Assist students in navigating academic challenges, including academic probation, course withdrawal, and academic appeals, by providing advocacy and support.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement student success initiatives, workshops, and programs aimed at promoting academic excellence and retention.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including advising notes, degree audits, programs of study, and academic plans, using university advising systems and databases, such as Advise, Canvas, Colleague.
- Participate in professional development activities, workshops, and conferences to stay current with best practices in academic advising and student success.
- Ability to use technology/computer systems such as: Gmail, Google Drive, Asana, and Docusign
- Plan, develop, and implement various special projects as assigned

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

- Demonstrated cultural responsiveness and competency, proficiency in cross-cultural communication
- High school graduate
- Minimum of two years of related work experience and/or relevant training
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands in fast paced work environment
- Typing and spelling competency
- Experience with various computer software applications
- Data entry experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some college coursework
- Experience in higher education
Physical Demands

Supervision Received:
Receives supervision and work assignments from a designated supervisor, although other staff members in the unit may provide work direction.

May be responsible for the coordination of work assignments for student employees.
